Supercapacitor Earrings

The future of LED wearables is here and hangs from your ears! This tech wearable designed by California STEAM contains a hybrid super capacitor. The capacitor used offers the increased voltage and energy density of batteries along with the rapid charge/discharge, environmental friendliness, longevity, and safety of ultracapacitors. Please read carefully the instructions in this booklet to keep your super capacitor happy for many years to come.

Hybrid Super Capacitors (LIC)

The push button is locked during shipping. To unlock the push button, just connect the wearable with a USB Type-C cable to a charger.
To lock the push button again (recommended for storing or shipping), just hold the push button while disconnecting the charger cable.

The super capacitor used in this wearable is a lithium-ion capacitor (LIC). LICs are more rugged than lithium-ion (coin cell) batteries and do not have the safety or environmental concerns of rechargeable batteries. LICs do not catch fire or explode, but just vent out through the top if too much stress is applied.
Unlike regular super capacitors these LICs must remain above 2.5V at all times. Please charge the capacitor entirely before storing for an extended time.
The wearable contains a redundant charging system that will ensure that current and voltage never exceed the maximum specifications of the LIC.
The wearable can be recycled with standard household electronics. Unlike a lithium battery, separating the LIC from the wearable is not required.
Keep the wearable away from conductive materials and liquids. A fast discharge of the LIC will lower the life expectancy.

Recharging

This wearable is designed to be very energy efficient.
Most modes can run up to 30 hours on a single charge.
The “All same color” and “all mixing color” modes can stay powered up to 10 hours. Eventually you need to recharge. Use an USB Type-C charging cable to connect to a 5V USB power supply. The green LEDs on the front of the wearable indicate the current capacity. 90% of total capacity is reached after all the green LEDs are lit. After the wearable is charged for 100% the charging circuit will turn off and so will the red LED on the back. Wearable must be charged before storing, otherwise the voltage might drop too low and could damage the capacitor. Store in a dry location at room temperature. Do not store in hot locations (like in a car).
To lock the push button (recommended for storing or shipping), just hold the push button and disconnect the charger cable (while it is still connected to the charger).
